Epcoritamab Plus R-CHOP Cuts Lymphoma Progression Risk in Trial
Genmab and AbbVie report their combination therapy met its primary endpoint in newly diagnosed DLBCL patients, showing statistically significant progression-free survival gains.
Genmab and AbbVie announced that epcoritamab combined with the standard chemotherapy regimen R-CHOP achieved a statistically significant improvement in progression-free survival among patients newly diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, one of the most common and aggressive forms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
The results met the trial's primary endpoint, marking a potentially meaningful advance in front-line treatment for a disease where durable remission remains a challenge for a substantial share of patients. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, or DLBCL, accounts for roughly one-third of all non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnoses, and a significant portion of patients either relapse or prove refractory to existing first-line regimens.

Epcoritamab is a bispecific antibody that targets both CD3 on T-cells and CD20 on malignant B-cells, redirecting the immune system to attack tumor cells. Pairing the bispecific with R-CHOP — a regimen combining rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone — represents an effort to enhance the immunotherapeutic pressure applied at the earliest stage of treatment rather than reserving novel agents for relapsed or refractory settings.
The companies have not yet disclosed full data details, which are expected to be presented at an upcoming medical conference. Regulatory and commercial implications will depend on the depth and durability of the survival benefit observed, as well as the safety profile of the combination across the broader patient population studied.
